Kraken Prop Review 2026: Rules, Fees, Payouts and Is It Legit?
Kraken Prop (Kraken Pro) ranks #5 of 18 crypto-first and on-chain firms on PropRubric's list of the best crypto prop firms. It also appears on the lists of one-step crypto prop firms, crypto prop firms with no consistency rule and crypto prop firms with daily payouts.
Kraken Prop is a crypto prop firm programme sold inside the Kraken Pro exchange interface, run by Breakout Trading Group on the evaluation side and by Payward Oceanic Ltd., a Kraken group company, on the funded side.
Yes, Kraken Prop is a legitimate, operating crypto prop firm programme: the exchange that hosts it is named in the agreement, the plans are Breakout’s, and payouts land in a Kraken wallet, while no independent review of it existed at PropRubric’s last check. The programme sells three 1-step plans from $20 beside a $139 Lite plan that was sold out at PropRubric’s last check, and it is the same programme as Breakout under a different storefront.
The daily limit is 3% of the balance at 00:30 UTC on a static floor on every standard plan, while the Lite plan runs a $1,500 trailing floor instead. The programme pays 80% to 90% into a Kraken wallet in USD or USDG within 24 hours on every plan, excludes Canada, India and the UK, and has no API for the crypto pairs it lists. Compare it with all crypto prop firms PropRubric tracks before you choose.

Kraken Prop is a crypto prop firm programme inside Kraken Pro that sells 1-step evaluations on more than 60 crypto pairs and pays 80% to 90% of simulated profits into the trader’s Kraken wallet. Breakout Trading Group, LLC, a Delaware company that Kraken acquired with effect from 1 September 2025, runs the evaluations, and Payward Oceanic Ltd., a British Virgin Islands company in the Kraken group, provides the funded accounts under its Funded Trader Agreement.
The landing page’s “pass the evaluation to get a funded wallet with up to $200,000 of Kraken’s capital” describes that wallet, which the agreement makes a simulated account whose orders the company “may alternate between A-Book and B-Book”.
Kraken Funded, a third version of the same programme, sells $1,000 to $10,000 accounts for $20 to $90 inside the Kraken mobile app, with a 12% target, a 3% static floor, an 80% split and USD payouts to the Kraken account. Kraken Funded appears only when its tab is visible in the app.

How does Kraken Prop work?
Kraken Prop’s cycle has four steps, each set out in the firm’s support centre.
- Buy a plan from $5,000 to $200,000 of simulated capital, priced from $20, in Kraken Pro with a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or a Kraken USD balance, after basic verification of your email and country.
- Pass the profit target of 9%, 12% or 10% by plan within a 3% daily limit and a 3%, 5% or 6% static floor, with no minimum trading days and no time limit.
- Complete Kraken identity verification before the funded account is issued, which is also the step that applies the country checks: Canada, India and the UK cannot take part.
- Request a payout at any time once net profit reaches $50, and receive it in your main Kraken wallet in USD or USDG after a review that takes under 12 hours typically and 24 hours at most.
The step that decides which storefront to buy from is the first, and the next section answers whether the two storefronts sell the same thing.

Is Kraken Prop the same as Breakout?
Yes, Kraken Prop and Breakout are one programme: Breakout Trading Group, LLC runs the evaluations and Payward Oceanic Ltd., a Kraken group company, provides the funded accounts, on the same plans at the same prices. Four things differ: Kraken Prop pays into a Kraken wallet in USD or USDG by internal transfer instead of USDC on Ethereum, it has no API, it excludes Canada, India and the UK, and its interface is Kraken Pro instead of the Breakout Terminal.
The same programme, different storefront, is the shortest description, and the Breakout review covers the storefront that pays on-chain.

The agreement predates the storefront, and it shows. The agreement says withdrawals are paid “in USDC using the ERC-20 network” through the Breakout Terminal, while Kraken’s support centre says payouts are “an internal transfer, not an on-chain transaction” into the Kraken wallet. The support centre describes the live product sold on the Kraken Pro storefront. The Kraken Pro storefront is the cheapest entry among the best crypto prop firms alongside Breakout, and its prices are the next section.

How much does a Kraken Prop challenge cost?
Kraken Prop challenges cost $20 to $1,090, from the $5,000 Advanced plan to the $200,000 Intermediate plan, and the 90% split add-on adds 20% to any fee at checkout.
| Account size | advanced | intermediate | starter | lite |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $20 | $33 | $45 | — |
| $10,000 | $40 | $65 | $85 | — |
| $25,000 | $95 | $150 | $215 | — |
| $50,000 | $180 | $280 | $400 | $139 |
| $100,000 | $330 | $545 | $800 | — |
| $200,000 | $660 | $1,090 | — | — |
Values from each firm's own pages, checked by PropRubric
One add-on exists, and three price notes apply. The add-on raises the split from 80% to 90% for 20% of the base price, bought at checkout and not available later. The first note on the price is the Lite plan: $139 buys a $50,000 account with a $3,000 target and a $1,500 trailing floor, sold in a release of 1,500 places with “no guarantee of another release”. The Lite release was sold out at PropRubric’s last check, and the Lite price is recorded because the plan was listed when PropRubric read the page.
The second note on the price is the checkout: there is no crypto payment; a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or a Kraken USD balance with full verification are the options. The third note is the refund: fees are non-refundable once trading begins, and an account cannot be cancelled once created; no discount codes were published on the storefront.
What does Kraken Prop cost per $10,000 of funding?
Kraken Prop costs $66.00 per $10,000 of funding on the $100,000 and $200,000 Advanced plans and $80.00 on the $5,000 Advanced plan. The Advanced plan cost is computed as the fee plus one reset at the same price, plus the 90% add-on where chosen, divided by the account size in $10,000 units.
| account size | Advanced | Advanced with the 90% add-on | Intermediate | Starter | Lite |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $80.00 | $96.00 | $132.00 | $180.00 | — |
| $10,000 | $80.00 | $96.00 | $130.00 | $170.00 | — |
| $50,000 | $72.00 | $86.40 | $112.00 | $160.00 | $55.60 |
| $100,000 | $66.00 | $79.20 | $109.00 | $160.00 | — |
| $200,000 | $66.00 | $79.20 | $109.00 | — | — |
The Advanced plan is the cheapest funding at every size because its floor is the tightest, 3% against the Starter’s 6%, and the Lite figure assumes a second purchase at $139, which the sold-out release does not allow. At $80 per $10,000 on a $10,000 account, Advanced is level with Breakout’s Turbo as the cheapest single phase among the 28 firms on the list of one-step crypto prop firms. The floor decides whether a fee is ever recovered, and the rules are the next section.
What are Kraken Prop’s trading rules?
Kraken Prop’s trading rules are a 3% daily limit measured at 00:30 UTC, a static maximum drawdown on every standard plan, no consistency rule, no minimum days, no per-trade cap and no API. The three sections below cover those rules: the drawdown limits, the restrictions and the instruments.

| Maximum drawdown | advanced: 3%; intermediate: 5%; starter: 6%; lite: $1,500 trailing (3%) The Funded Trader Agreement annex defines only a 6% 1-step drawdown (and 8% trailing for 2-step); it does not describe the 3% and 5% plans sold on Kraken. Storefront values recorded. | kraken.com |

What are Kraken Prop’s drawdown limits?
Kraken Prop allows a 3% daily drawdown on every standard plan and a maximum drawdown of 3% on Advanced, 5% on Intermediate and 6% on Starter, and both count fees and unrealised losses. The daily limit is 3% of the balance recorded at 00:30 UTC, and the maximum floor is fixed at the starting balance and never moves.
Two document facts belong beside the table, one about the Lite plan and one about the agreement. The Lite plan replaces both limits with one $1,500 trailing floor below the highest closed balance, moved up once a day at 00:30 UTC, checked continuously against equity, and never locked.
The Funded Trader Agreement annex sets the floor differently: it defines a 6% drawdown for 1-step trading and an 8% trailing drawdown for 2-step trading and does not describe the 3% and 5% plans the storefront sells; PropRubric records the storefront values.
The 00:30 UTC reset with fees and unrealised losses counted is the worked example on the page about daily drawdown in crypto prop challenges.
Which trading restrictions does Kraken Prop have?
PropRubric checks twelve restriction rules at Kraken Prop, and the firm publishes eleven; the per-trade cap is stated only as per-market position limits.
- Stop-loss required: ✗ not required.
- Per-trade loss cap: ✗ none stated; per-market position size limits apply.
- Consistency rule: ✗ none; Kraken Prop is one of the seven crypto prop firms without a consistency rule on any plan.
- Minimum trading days: ✗ none.
- Time limit: none; an account without activity for 90 days is suspended.
- News trading: ✓ allowed.
- Weekend holding: ✓ allowed, with margin funding of 0.033% per day charged every 4 hours, which counts toward both limits.
- Hedging: ✗ not allowed across accounts.
- Copy trading: ✗ not allowed, checked at payout review.
- Bots and API: ✗ no API; every order is placed by hand in Kraken Pro.
- Multiple accounts: ✓ allowed, up to $200,000 combined across active evaluation and funded accounts.
- Prohibited strategies: copy trading, cross-account hedging and the agreement’s list of manipulative practices.
The missing API is the restriction that separates the two storefronts most: Breakout’s terminal offers one, Kraken Prop offers none, and a trader who runs a bot has to buy the other storefront.
What can you trade at Kraken Prop, and with how much leverage?
You can trade more than 60 crypto pairs at Kraken Prop in the Kraken Pro market selector, at 5x on BTC and ETH and 2x on other crypto per the agreement annex. The Lite plan adds the XYZ100 and S&P 500 index contracts at up to 40x in the same Kraken Pro selector.
| market | leverage | fee |
|---|---|---|
| BTC, ETH | 5x | 0.04% per side |
| other crypto pairs | 2x | 0.04% per side |
| XYZ100, S&P 500 (Lite only) | up to 40x | 0.04 bps per side |
| margin funding on open positions | — | 0.033% per day, charged every 4 hours |
The Lite FAQ describes the standard plans as “up to 5–10x”, and the annex is the document PropRubric records because it is the signed one. Breakout’s own help centre raised BTC to 10x on 12 August 2026 on its storefront, and Kraken’s storefront had published no matching annex change at PropRubric’s last check.
How do Kraken Prop payouts work?
Kraken Prop pays 80% of profits, rising to 90% with the add-on, into the trader’s main Kraken wallet in USD or USDG by internal transfer. Payouts are on demand once net profit reaches $50, after a manual review that takes under 12 hours typically and 24 hours at most.
Payout terms
| split | first payout | frequency | minimum | currency + network | speed | proof |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 80% → 90% (add-on, +20% of the fee) | once net profit reaches $50 | on demand | $50 | USD or USDG in the Kraken wallet; internal ledger transfer, no network | typically under 12 hours; guaranteed within 24 hours; near-instant once approved | none published; not on-chain |
Three payout conditions apply. Firstly, every position and order has to be closed before the payout request, so that the balance equals the equity. Secondly, the payout goes to the Kraken wallet first, never to an external address, and leaves Kraken through its standard withdrawal. Finally, the rail is an internal ledger, so there is no transaction hash for anyone to check, and Payout Junction, which counts only payouts matched to a public blockchain, did not list Kraken Prop at PropRubric’s last check.
The agreement’s “USDC using the ERC-20 network” line describes Breakout’s rail, not this one. The split, the rail and the proof are compared across every firm on the page about how crypto prop firm payouts work.
Who can trade with Kraken Prop?
Kraken Prop names Canada, India and the United Kingdom as unavailable, and the agreement’s residence list is sanctions-based and does not name the United States. “Not listed as unavailable” is not the same as “accepts US traders”, and the support centre says only that a trader must be eligible for Kraken Pro in their country.
Who can join
| US status | restricted countries | KYC timing | platform exceptions |
|---|---|---|---|
| not listed as unavailable | Canada, India, United Kingdom; plus the agreement’s list: Afghanistan, Belarus, Myanmar, Central African Republic, Cuba, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, Nicaragua, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk | basic verification (email + country) to buy with a card; full Kraken identity verification before the funded account and to pay from a Kraken balance | Kraken Pro on web and mobile; Kraken Funded is app-only |
Kraken Prop verifies identity before the funded account rather than before the purchase, so a document problem delays funding rather than the fee, and the Kraken account itself has to pass the exchange’s checks first.
Is Kraken Prop legit?
Yes, Kraken Prop is a legitimate, operating crypto prop firm programme. The evidence is that its funded accounts are provided by Payward Oceanic Ltd. under a published agreement, its evaluations are Breakout’s, and its host exchange announced the acquisition with named executives. The two cautions PropRubric found beside that evidence are a payout rail with no public proof and a search result page where the only page about the programme is a Reddit thread asking whether it is a scam.
- Status: active at PropRubric’s last check.
- Operator and jurisdiction: Payward Oceanic Ltd., British Virgin Islands, for the funded accounts; Breakout Trading Group, LLC, Delaware, for the evaluations; the Lite page calls it “an unregulated service”.
- Operating since: Kraken completed the Breakout acquisition with effect from 1 September 2025, per BusinessWire on 4 September 2025; “over 35,000 wallets funded since 2023” and “$4.5 million” in payouts are firm-reported figures that belong to Breakout’s history.
- Payout evidence: none on-chain; payouts are internal transfers; Payout Junction’s 33-firm table did not list it at PropRubric’s last check.
- Complaint signal: no Trustpilot profile for the programme (kraken.com’s 3.2 from 9,197 reviews is the exchange); a Reddit thread titled “Is Kraken prop a scam?” ranked first for the review query at PropRubric’s last check, with 7 comments, and its body could not be read.
- Contradictions found: the agreement’s USDC-on-Ethereum payout line against the support centre’s Kraken-wallet rail; the annex’s 6% 1-step drawdown against the 3% and 5% plans sold; the Lite page’s “clients do not hold real positions” against the support centre’s “trade with real funded capital”.
- Named people: Arjun Sethi, Kraken co-CEO, and Alex Miningham, Breakout co-founder and CEO, quoted in the acquisition release; no journalist has published a review of Kraken Prop under a byline.
A firm’s rules and status change over time, so the last question is what has changed at Kraken Prop recently.
What has changed at Kraken Prop?
Kraken Prop’s change log holds 2 rows since PropRubric’s first check on 29 September 2026, with 1 logged as a firm change, the Lite release selling out, and the rest as PropRubric’s additions to its own record. The storefront’s own history is Breakout’s, whose leverage and plan changes of 2026 are logged on that firm’s page.

What are the alternatives to Kraken Prop?
Three firms differ from Kraken Prop on its weakest attributes, the Kraken-wallet payout rail and the country list, and each card names the difference.
- Breakout: the same rules and prices with USDC paid on Ethereum, an API in the Breakout Terminal, and no Canada, India or UK exclusion beyond its own list.
- Propr: USDC paid on-chain on demand with a $20 minimum and a public payout feed, from $25, with a developer API; a British Virgin Islands firm whose 2-step floor trails.
- HyroTrader: the trader’s own Bybit or BloFin demo account connected by API, paid in USDT or USDC on Solana or Tron, from $59; a firm with no real-capital stage and a payout cap of 5% of the initial balance per request.
Kraken Prop ranks fifth among the crypto prop firms on PropRubric’s five criteria, set out in how PropRubric verifies crypto prop firm rules, and the cards above are where its two weak attributes are absent.
