FTMO Crypto Trading 2026: Leverage, Weekend Rules and Payouts
Affiliate link: PropRubric may earn a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. It never changes a score or a ranking.
FTMO is one of the multi-asset firms with a crypto offer that PropRubric tracks beside the crypto-first ranking of the best crypto prop firms. It also appears on the lists of crypto prop firms that use TradingView, forex prop firms with crypto trading and crypto prop firms for US traders.
Yes, FTMO allows crypto trading on every FTMO Challenge account: 30 crypto CFDs against the US dollar at up to 1:3.33 leverage, open on Saturday and Sunday.
FTMO is a Prague prop firm that trades forex first, so its crypto offer is one symbol group inside a simulated account, priced with a 0.065% commission on volume and a swap of 30% a year. The weekend rule depends on the account stage: a funded Standard account must close positions before any market break longer than 2 hours.
Rewards from a funded account go out in BTC, ETH, LTC, USDC or USDT. A US account reaches a single crypto CFD, BTCUSD, through FTMO US. Use these terms to choose between FTMO and the other forex prop firms that allow crypto.
At a glance
| crypto allowed | instrument | crypto symbols | BTC leverage | weekend | crypto commission | crypto payouts | US access |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| yes, all Challenge accounts | spot CFDs vs USD, simulated account | 30 | 1:3.33 (Swing 1:1) | open Sat and Sun; funded Standard closes before breaks over 2 hours | 0.065% of volume | BTC, ETH, LTC, USDC (ERC20), USDT (TRC20); min $50 | FTMO US: BTCUSD only |
Does FTMO allow crypto trading?
Yes, FTMO allows crypto trading on the 2-Step Challenge, its Swing account type and the 1-Step Challenge, through 30 crypto CFDs quoted against the US dollar. The firm’s crypto instruments are spot CFDs, which means the account tracks the price of bitcoin or ether without owning a coin, inside an account FTMO describes in its payout FAQ as “simulated capital only”.
| account | crypto allowed | crypto leverage | note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2-Step, Standard | yes | 1:3.33 | the funded account closes positions before long market breaks |
| 2-Step, Swing | yes | 1:1 | holds positions through any break |
| 1-Step | yes | 1:3.33 | the Swing type is “offered exclusively within the FTMO Challenge: 2-Step product” |
FTMO also sells the FTMO Instant Account, with no evaluation, from $5,000 to $100,000; this page covers the two Challenges.
The CFD form decides three things this page measures: the leverage is set by FTMO’s margin, the cost is a commission plus a swap instead of an exchange fee, and the trading hours follow FTMO’s server, not the 24/7 crypto market. Those three terms are what to compare against all crypto prop firms PropRubric tracks.
Which cryptocurrencies can you trade at FTMO?
FTMO lists 30 crypto CFDs, each quoted against the US dollar, on its symbols page.
| symbol | coin | contract size (1 lot) |
|---|---|---|
| BTCUSD | Bitcoin | 1 |
| ETHUSD | Ethereum | 10 |
| LTCUSD | Litecoin | 100 |
| XRPUSD | XRP | 10,000 |
| SOLUSD | Solana | 100 |
| BNBUSD | BNB | 100 |
| DOGEUSD | Dogecoin | 100,000 |
| ADAUSD | Cardano | 100,000 |
| DOTUSD | Polkadot | 10,000 |
| AVAUSD | Avalanche | 1,000 |
| BCHUSD | Bitcoin Cash | 100 |
| ETCUSD | Ethereum Classic | 1,000 |
| LNKUSD | Chainlink | 1,000 |

| NEOUSD | Neo | 1,000 |
| UNIUSD | Uniswap | 10,000 |
| XLMUSD | Stellar | 100,000 |
| XTZUSD | Tezos | 100,000 |
| AAVUSD | Aave | 100 |
| ALGUSD | Algorand | 100,000 |
| ICPUSD | Internet Computer | 10,000 |

| MANUSD | Decentraland | 100,000 |
| SANUSD | The Sandbox | 100,000 |
| VECUSD | VeChain | 1,000,000 |
The contract size matters more than the coin count, because one lot of ETHUSD is 10 ether while one lot of BTCUSD is 1 bitcoin, so the same lot size carries a very different position value from symbol to symbol. The leverage on all 30 symbols is the same, and the next section gives it.

What leverage does FTMO offer on crypto?
FTMO offers 1:3.33 leverage on all 30 crypto CFDs on Standard accounts and 1:1 on the Swing account type, from a margin of 30% of the position’s value.
| account type | crypto margin | crypto leverage |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (2-Step and 1-Step) | 30% | 1:3.33 |
| Swing (2-Step only) | 100% | 1:1 |
The margin turns into a dollar figure: one lot of BTCUSD at a bitcoin price of $80,000 needs $24,000 of margin on a Standard account and $80,000 on a Swing account, so a $100,000 Swing account can open at most 1.25 bitcoin. Leverage on forex pairs at FTMO is higher, and that difference is the reason the weekend rule below treats Swing as the holding account.
Can you hold crypto over the weekend on a funded FTMO account?
Yes, a funded FTMO Standard account can hold crypto through a normal weekend, because the crypto breaks last 10 and 70 minutes; it must close positions only before a market break longer than 2 hours. Evaluation and Swing accounts hold through any break, and the rule’s own words are “shortly before the markets close for the weekend or if the rollover (market break) lasts longer than 2 hours”.
FTMO’s crypto CFDs do not close for the weekend: the symbols page lists Saturday and Sunday sessions, and the FAQ says “We do not have any restrictions on executing trades on weekends. If the market is open, you are free to trade as usual.”
| day (server time, GMT+3) | crypto trading hours | in UTC while GMT+3 applies |
|---|---|---|
| Monday to Friday | 00:05–23:55 | 21:05 the previous day to 20:55 |
| Saturday | 00:05–23:55 | 21:05 Friday to 20:55 Saturday |
| Sunday | 01:05–23:55 | 22:05 Saturday to 20:55 Sunday |
The crypto breaks on those hours are 10 minutes each night and 70 minutes from Saturday into Sunday, both shorter than the 2-hour trigger in FTMO’s rule. PropRubric reads the rule as letting a funded Standard account hold crypto through a normal weekend.
The same rule requires the account to close crypto before any announced maintenance window longer than 2 hours, because the symbols page warns that “weekend trading hours on Cryptocurrencies may vary on each platform due to weekly scheduled maintenance times”.
You should confirm that reading with FTMO support before you hold a funded crypto position over a weekend, and you should check FTMO’s Trading Updates page for the weekend’s maintenance times.
The daily loss limit resets at midnight Prague time, which is 01:00 on FTMO’s server, in the middle of an open crypto session, and the cost of holding through those sessions comes next.

What does crypto trading cost at FTMO?
Crypto trading at FTMO costs a commission of 0.065% of the traded volume plus a swap of 30% a year on open positions, charged by night, on every crypto CFD, and no typical spread is published.
| cost | value on all 30 crypto CFDs | worked example (1 BTC at $80,000) |
|---|---|---|
| commission | 0.065% of volume (“PERCENT/VOLUME”) | $52.00 on $80,000 of volume |
| swap, long and short | −30, percentage type (an annual rate on the position’s value) | $24,000 a year, charged night by night |
| spread | live only, not published as a typical value | — |
The swap figure follows MetaTrader 5’s percentage mode, which MetaQuotes documents as an “annual percentage of the price of the instrument at the time of swap calculation”, so a crypto position held for weeks costs far more in swap than in commission. The challenge fee is the fixed cost, billed in euros.
| account size | FTMO Challenge 2-Step | FTMO Challenge 1-Step |
|---|---|---|
| $10,000 | €89 | €79 |
| $25,000 | €250 | €199 |
| $50,000 | €345 | €319 |
| $100,000 | €540 | €499 |
| $200,000 | €1,080 | €999 |
FTMO refunds the 2-Step fee with the first reward and does not refund the 1-Step fee. A 20% promotion on the $100,000 1-Step showed €399 at the time of reading, and the list prices above are the ones recorded. The fee buys the same rule set for crypto as for forex, and the next section lists it.
Do FTMO’s challenge rules change for crypto?
No, FTMO’s challenge rules do not change for crypto: the same drawdown limits, profit targets and day rules apply to a bitcoin trade as to a forex trade, and two FTMO rules apply to crypto in a specific way.
| rule | FTMO Challenge 2-Step | FTMO Challenge 1-Step | crypto note |
|---|---|---|---|
| profit target | 10%, then 5% | 10% | — |
| daily loss limit | 5% | 3% | resets at 00:00 Prague time (22:00 UTC in summer), during an open crypto session |
| maximum loss | 10%, static | 10%, end-of-day trailing | — |
| minimum trading days | 4 per phase | none | weekend crypto days are trading days |
| time limit | unlimited | unlimited | — |
| consistency rule | none | best day 50% of positive days’ profit on orders placed before 12 Oct 2026; best day no more than 50% of total profit, losing days included, for 1-Step orders and 1-Step accounts merged from that date; neither rule is a breach | — |
| news trading | funded Standard accounts restricted | same | crypto CFDs are not on the restricted list |
| weekend holding | evaluation yes; funded Standard closes before breaks over 2 hours | same | crypto breaks are 10 and 70 minutes |
FTMO’s news rule bans opening or closing trades on targeted instruments “within a time window starting 2 minutes before and ending 2 minutes after” selected releases, and a US release targets USD forex pairs, XAUUSD, the US indices and the DXY, not BTCUSD. The rule that does differ for American traders is the account itself.
Can US traders trade crypto at FTMO?
Yes, US traders can trade crypto at FTMO through FTMO US at ftmo.oanda.com, not through ftmo.com, and FTMO US lists one crypto instrument, BTCUSD. The FTMO US FAQ says traders “can trade all simulated assets (instruments) available in the platform, 3 US indices, Gold, Crude Oil, and BTCUSD”, and its affiliate FAQ excludes residents of Arkansas, Delaware, Louisiana, Montana and South Carolina. A US trader who wants the other 29 crypto CFDs needs a different firm, and the payout rules below are the global ones.
Does FTMO pay out in crypto?
Yes, FTMO pays out rewards in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USD Coin on the ERC20 network and Tether on the TRC20 network, from $50 of closed profit. The first reward can be requested “on the 14th or any following day after the first placed trade”, with all positions closed.
Payout terms
| split | first reward | review + payment | crypto coins and networks | crypto minimum | cut-off | other methods |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 80% on the 2-Step, 90% on the 1-Step; up to 90% via the Scaling Plan | day 14 after the first trade | review 1–2 business days, then payment 1–2 business days | BTC, ETH, LTC, USDC (ERC20), USDT (TRC20) | $50 closed profit | requests before 12:00 Prague time paid the same day; Friday noon to Monday noon paid on Monday | bank wire (min $20), Visa Direct / Mastercard Send up to $20,000, Skrill up to $3,000 |
FTMO publishes no ceiling on a crypto reward, while it caps Skrill and card payouts. Crypto rewards are paid “with the exchange rate available at the time of sending the payment”, so the coin amount depends on the moment FTMO sends it. Firms whose entire payout runs in stablecoins are compared on the list of prop firms that pay out in crypto.
Can you pay for an FTMO Challenge with crypto?
Yes, FTMO accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Tether and USD Coin at checkout, with a 3% fee on crypto payments and delivery “up to 24h”, while card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Revolut Pay are free. The 3% is a fee on buying the Challenge, not on crypto rewards. Every firm’s checkout coins and fees are compared on the list of prop firms that take crypto at checkout.
Crypto at FTMO comes as 30 CFDs inside a forex-first firm, and that raises the last question: is FTMO a crypto prop firm at all?
Is FTMO a crypto prop firm?
No, FTMO is a multi-asset prop firm that offers crypto as one of its CFD symbol groups. For a bitcoin or altcoin trader, the difference shows in four terms: 30 symbols against several hundred, 1:3.33 against exchange-style leverage, server hours with breaks against a 24/7 market, and a CFD price against an exchange order book.
Two firms built for digital assets in PropRubric’s census beat FTMO on the two attributes its crypto offer is weakest on, leverage and an unbroken week; how PropRubric scores firms sets out the five criteria behind every score on this site.
- HyroTrader, a UAE-registered crypto prop firm, connects a simulated account to Bybit with that exchange’s per-pair leverage limits and more than 700 pairs, as the HyroTrader review sets out.
- Velotrade, a Hong Kong crypto prop firm, sells accounts with 104 pairs and 10x bitcoin leverage in the challenge (5x funded), charging a daily funding fee on positions open at 00:30 UTC, weekends included, as the review of Velotrade’s 24/7 crypto accounts shows.
The wider rule differences between the two kinds of firm are set out in crypto prop firms vs forex prop firms.
